the whisky bond

spaces for creativity

The Whisky Bond is a hugely successful initiative at the heart of the Glasgow Canal regeneration area. A ‘factory’ for artists and creative industry start-ups it provides a full range of workshops, exhibition space and affordable co-working space and individual studios for artists and creative industry start-ups.

Originally built in the 1950’s as a canalside bonded warehouse for whisky barrels it was then used as a mushroom factory after the canal fell into disuse. In 2010 Scottish Canals teamed up with Waterside Places and Glasgow Sculpture Studios to convert the seven storey concrete frame building. The building’s robust character has been retained to provide affordable and flexible workspace. The stripped back interior is augmented with bright colour and bold graphics.

We liked it so much we moved in…
